Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds

Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds

PARALLEL Worlds

The thematic and experiential parts of this show mirror aspects of Star Trek familiar to fans. Aboard the “bridge” visitors encounter iconic props from the shows. Like members of a starship “away team,” they explore other worlds, and test their ability to be good humans.

Genesis

The exhibit is organized into three parts. The first part lays out the origins of Star Trek amidst historic context.

Conflicting Worlds

In the immersive core of the exhibit, the well lit “bridge” serves as a manifestation of the orderly, known world of Star Trek’s “Federation of Planets”. Encroaching are the darker outer worlds of Star Trek. Development of this type of thematic organizational framework is an important part of what Curious Beast brings to a project.

Being There

Experiential scenic treatments include a photo niche that lets one become absorbed by the “Borg”, and a Starship “Jeffries Tube” passage experience with lighting effects and the sounds of “Tribbles.”

Impact

The final part of the show uses displays of content, films, and oral histories collected from fans to explore the impact that Star Trek has had on people the world over.
